The nonprofit Liver Institute and Foundation for Education and Research (L.I.F.E.R.) corporation was created in 2003 to address the educational needs of practitioners caring for patients with complex liver-related disorders and researchers studying these illnesses. Over the years, the organization has grown from a small group of local experts to include authorities and activities around the world.
Our mission is to provide high-level education to clinical care providers in hepatology, to educate patients and members of their support networks about specific liver diseases, and to promote research leading to enhanced understanding of liver disease with the expectation of improving patient care.
L.I.F.E.R. has long been engaged in providing culturally sensitive, balanced education to healthcare practitioners through comprehensive workshops as well as through single-topic, focused forums. L.I.F.E.R. has planned and jointly sponsored educational activities in multiple therapeutic areas, including chronic hepatitis B and C virus infection. Recent programs have included live activities, enduring materials, and Web-based initiatives.
